In the heart of Kathmandu valley on the conflux of Icchumati and Bagmati river is a shrine of Tripureshwor Mahadev. Prime minister  Bhimshen Thapa in 1874 BS built the temples and idols around this holy tantric place for his nephew Lalita Tripura Sundari. She is also the youngest queen of king Rana Bahadur Saha. Once there used to be a lake with lotus in existing Tripureshwor football stadium, devotees would offer that lotus to the Tripureshwor Mahdev for fulfilling their wishes.The temple has gone various reconstruction and renovation, despite its abundance of idols and historical significance, the temple is less popular in Kathmandu but worth a visit.
