Thorang La Pass

Thorong La or Thorung La is a mountain pass with an elevation of 5,416 metres (17,769 ft) above sea level in the Damodar Himal, north of the Annapurna Himal, in central Nepal. Khatung Kang and Yakawa Kang are the mountains forming Thorong La. The pass is located on a trail which connects the village of Manang in the Manang District to the east, with the temple of Muktinath and the nearby village of Ranipauwa, in the Mustang District to the west. Thorong La is the highest point on the Annapurna Circuit, a 300 km (190 mi) route around the Annapurna mountain range. In addition to trekkers, the pass is regularly used by local traders.

Day 01:

Drive to Syange via Dumre, Besisahar and Bulbule , 8-9 Hours drive.

The trip commences with drive to Besisahar from Kathmandu about 5 hours along to the Prithwi highway. We divert off the highway at the bustling town of Dumre and continue for a further one and half hours to Besisahar. After lunch we complete the drive to the road head at Syange (1100meters / 3608 ft) in the Marysandi Valley, overnight at tea house lodge with dinner.


Day 02:

Trek to Taal (1700m) 6-7 Hours walk.


Day 03:

Trek to Bagarchhap (2160m)


Day 04:

Trek to Koto / Chame (26700m) 5-6 Hours walk.


Day 05:

Trek to Upper Pisang (3300m) 6-7 Hours walk.


Day 06:

Trek from Pisang to Manang (3540m), 3-4 Hours walk.


Day 07:

Rest and acclimatization day in Manang


Day 08:

Walk from Manang to Ledar (4200m). 5-6 Hours walk.


Day 09:

Trek to Phedi or High camp (4600m). 4-5 Hours.


Day 10:

Trek to Muktinath (3760m) via Thorong La Pass (5416m), 7-8 Hours walk.


Day 11:

Trek to Marpha (2600m)


Day 12:

Drive to Tatopani (1190m) 3-4 hours drive


Day 13:

Trek to Ghorepani (2850). 7-8 Hours walk.


Day 14:

Hike Poon Hill – trek to Birethanti – drive to Pokhara, 6-8 hours.
