Taleju temple is located at the three major medieval palaces Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square of the Kathmandu Valley. The three-storeyed temple was built in the 14th century by the Malla kings stands by itself at the edge of the Hanuman Dhoka Durbar, goddess Taleju Bhawani is known as the Goddess of the royal family. Goddess Taleju Bhawani is one of the forms of Goddess Parvati with four heads and ten arms, worshipped by both Hindus and Buddhists devotees. The temple is closed all day in the year except one day which is the ninth day of the greatest festival Dashain of Hindus, Navami. On this day, thousands of animals are sacrificed on the name of Goddess Bhawani, many devotees around the world visit the temple on this day. Visitors can visit outside the temple on the other days, we would recommend you to visit this religious place if you are near the Kathmandu valley.
