शंखरापुर नगरपालिका, वार्ड नं. ७, काठमाडौँ जिल्लाको साक्वा टोलमा अवस्थित ज्योतिर्लिंगेश्वर महादेव मन्दिर एक प्राचीन र प्रसिद्ध धार्मिक स्थल हो। यो महादेव मन्दिर लिङ्गपुराणमा वर्णन गरिए अनुसार साँखुको उत्तर-पूर्वी भागमा अवस्थित ज्योतिर्लिंगेश्वर महादेव मानिन्छ। यस मन्दिरमा रहेको महादेवको मूर्ति करिब १८ इन्च लामो र १२ इन्च परिधि भएको छ, जुन उत्तर-पश्चिम कोणतर्फ झुकेको छ। किंवदन्ती अनुसार, यस शिवलिंगको पूजा गर्दा अत्यधिक भोजन गर्ने, अरूको खानपान खोस्ने जस्ता पापकर्महरूको प्रायश्चित्त हुन्छ। साथै, पापी सैष्ठिमुख नामक ब्राह्मणले बैशाख शुक्ल पक्षको १५औं दिन यहाँ पूजा गरेपछि हरितमुनिको शिक्षाबाट मोक्ष प्राप्त गरेको भनाइ छ। भगवान विरुपाक्षले पनि यस मन्दिरको आनन्द लिएको उल्लेख पाइन्छ।नेपालका ६४ शिवलिङ्गहरूमध्ये एक मानिने यस स्थलमा अन्य धेरै लिंगेश्वर मन्दिरहरू पनि रहेका छन्। यो धार्मिक स्थलमा गणेश, भैरव, सरस्वती, बुढानीलकण्ठ, नारायण, त्रिरत्न, सत्यनारायण लगायतका आकर्षक र कलात्मक मूर्तिहरू एवं प्राचीन शिलालेखहरू समेत रहेको फराकिलो क्षेत्र समेटिएको छ। मूर्तिकलाको खानी मानिने यो स्थान धार्मिक तथा पर्यटकीय दृष्टिले पनि अत्यन्त महत्वपूर्ण छ।विशेषगरी महाशिवरात्रिको अवसरमा यहाँ भव्य मेला लाग्ने गर्छ। साथै, धार्मिक आस्थाका केन्द्रको रूपमा, भक्तजनहरूले शुद्ध उपवास बस्नका लागि ज्योतिर्लिंगेश्वर महादेवको जल मिश्रति राज कुलोमा स्नान गरी शालिनदी नदी तर्फ धार्मिक अनुष्ठान गर्ने परम्परा रहेको छ।हजुरहरु पनी ज्योतिर्लिंगेश्वर महादेव मन्दिर पक्कै पनी यात्रा गर्नु होला ।                                                                                                             Jyotirlingeshwar Mahadev Temple, located in Sakwa Tol of Shankharapur Municipality, Ward No. 7, Kathmandu district, is an ancient and renowned religious site. According to the Linga Purana, this Mahadev temple is considered Jyotirlingeshwar Mahadev, situated in the northeastern part of Sankhu. The idol of Mahadev in this temple is approximately 18 inches long and 12 inches in circumference, leaning towards the northwest direction.As per legends, worshiping this Shiva Lingam is believed to atone for sins such as excessive eating and stealing food from others. It is also said that a sinful Brahmin named Saishthimukha attained salvation after worshiping here on the 15th day of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) of the month of Baisakh, following the teachings of sage Harita. Additionally, it is mentioned that Lord Virupaksha also enjoyed the bliss of this temple.This site is considered one of the 64 Shiva Lingams in Nepal and is home to several other Lingeshwar temples. The religious site encompasses a vast area featuring various attractive and artistic idols, including those of Ganesh, Bhairav, Saraswati, Budhanilkantha, Narayan, Triratna, and Satyanarayan, along with ancient inscriptions. Known as a treasure trove of sculptures, this place holds immense significance from both religious and touristic perspectives.A grand fair is held here, especially on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
