Rara National Park

Rara national park is said as the protected area in the Himalayas of Nepal and was established in 1976. Rara national parks cover an area of 103 km squares. Rara national park is Nepal’s smallest national park but also the lake covers a surface area of 10.8 km square. The national park is located at an elevation of 2999 m. We can find three species of snow trout, two endemic in Nepal and one existing only in Rara. We can also find different endangered wildlife animals in the national park. Some of the endangered species are leopard cat, Assamese monkey, musk deer, red panda, Himalayan deer and so on. Rara national park has played an important role in the tourism industry. The lake is an important spot for migratory birds during the winter.
