Makalu Barun National Park

Makalu Barun National park and conservation area that is established in 1992 as an eastern extension of Sagarmatha National Park and covers 2330 square km. The national park is situated in the Sankhuwasabha and Solukhumbu districts. The national park is bordered with the Arun River on the east, Sagarmatha National Park on the west, the Nepal-Tibet border on the north and Saune Danda to the south. Makalu Barun national park is said as the national park that is at the highest altitude which is almost 8000m. The national park includes 47 orchid types, 25 rhododendrons, and 56 rare endangered plants. We can also find almost 67 species of bamboos,15 oaks including Arkhoulo, 86 species of fodder trees and 48 species of primrose. We can also find 400 species of birds and the 84 varieties of fish in the national park.
