Away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded and busy city area, one of the most famous Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, Kopan Monastery is located at the north of the ancient Buddhist Monastery, Boudhanath in the Kopan hill of the Kathmandu valley. The area is surrounded by the Bodhi trees providing a mesmerizing view and fresh air. The monastery is the home of about 360 monks from different parts of the country. The environment is filled with spiritual vibes and positive energy which provides you inner peace. It is believed that many years ago in 1969 the land was the home of Nepal’s royal astrologer. Then, it was bought by Lama Thubten Yeshe and Thubten Zopa Rinpoche to built a monastery to provide infinite wisdom and knowledge of Buddha Shakyamuni to the devotees of Lord Buddha. The Monastery was opened for all the visitors on weekdays before but, because of the large number of visitors, the authority decided to open the monastery on weekends only. Now, you can only visit the Monastery at weekends. You can reach this beautiful monastery by hiking or hiring a car or bus.
