Lord Shiva himself could not bear the effect of poison so he flew to the Himalayas of Langtang National Park. Upon reaching there, with his trident or Trishul he bored water from the rocky mountain and drunk it cool his throat. The water eventually made Gosainkunda Lake and the river originated from it was called Trishuli.
