Besides the thrilling environment, the local Buddhist culture and customs are captivating, as the journey begins from Lukla hill town. The trek goes through several Sherpa villages’ to Phakding for overnight at a lodge. The walk continues to enter Sagarmatha National Park, “Sagarmatha” Nepali name for “Everest”. Slowly a steep ascent leads to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m followed by acclimatization day. From Namche, it heads on a scenic forested trail to Tengboche with the biggest monastery in the Khumbu region.

With the view of Mt. Everest and Ama Dablam mountain peaks amidst green vegetation the trail heads into the sheer wilderness, excursing through Pangboche to Dingboche, situated in the scenic Imjatse river valley. From Dingboche, the adventure continues toward the arid mountainous zone to Lobuche, and then at Everest base camp on the rocky moraines. Enjoy standing beneath the world’s highest peaks, and close to Khumbu Ice-Fall, next day climb to high Kalapathar Hill with a close-up panorama of the towering snow mountain peaks with Mt. Everest. On completing the major highlights, walk downhill to Lukla via Namche Bazaar. The next morning a swift short flight brings you to Kathmandu, after a wonderful experience on the Everest base camp trek.

Trekking Route

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu 1,300 m and transfer to hotel.

On your first arrival at Kathmandu, our representative receives you and assists you at the designated hotel. After checking in rooms a short briefing regarding the trek information is held by our guide and leaders. In the evening a group dinner is reserved in a Nepali restaurant, then back to the hotel.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla and walk to Phakding 2,651 m-04 hrs.

Early morning transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for short scenic Tenzing & Hillary airport
in Lukla. Start the trek following our guide towards Dudh Kosi River, then reach Phakding for an overnight halt.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440m -06 hrs.

A long day walks to Namche Bazaar, after breakfast the first part of the walk on a gradual path. Walk up to Monjo village and then enter the Sagarmatha National Park, the park is designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site, the walk continues by crossing bridges and then having lunch. Leaving the last Jorsalle village from the high bridge climb begins till Namche is reached for an overnight stop.

Day 04: At Namche Bazaar for acclimatization day.

Namche Bazaar is a large village town, for the local Sherpa commune as well as for trekkers. It serves as a perfect altitude for acclimatization before heading to Everest base camp. A short hike to Everest View Hotel and Khumjung village offers grand views of Everest and surrounding high peaks.

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche 3,867-05 hrs.

Morning a short steep climb and then on the easy scenic trail down to Phunge Tenga, situated close to Imjatse River stopping for lunch in the midst of the beautiful forest of rhododendron and pines. Afternoon ascends for a few hours to Tengboche, one of the most beautiful spots with a famous monastery open for tourists to visit. Tengboche is surrounded by giant peaks with grand views of Mt. Everest and a close-up look of majestic Ama Dablam. Enjoy the tour of the monastery and then check into a nice lodge with a room facing wonderful scenery.

Day 06: Trek to Dingboche 4,360 m-05 hrs.

From Tengboche walk down to a bridge followed by a slow climb to Pangboche and then stop at Somare for lunch situated beneath towering Ama Dablam, having lunch a slow steady walk to Dingboche, placed on scenic Imjatse valley. Enjoy the view of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam north face as you check into a nice lodge for an overnight halt.

Day 07: Rest and acclimatization day at Dingboche with a short hike.

Another rest day for acclimatization and a short excursion to the high hill of Nangkartshang offers a wide panorama of the surrounding mountain range including the view of the world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu in the east, rest of the day for leisure.

Day 08: Trek to Lobuche 4,940 m-05 hrs.

Continue with a short climb to a high ridge, facing grand views of snow peaks leading to Thugla for a lunch stop, a small settlement with few tea houses. After lunch, a steep climb of around an hour to the base of the Khumbu glacier, and then a pleasant high altitude walk to Lobuche. Lobuche with many nice lodges for overnight stays facing views of Lobuche peaks with Mt. Nuptse.

Day 09: Trek to Gorakshep unto Everest Base Camp 5,364 m / 17,594 feet and
back to Gorakshep for overnight 5,164 m / 16,940 feet-08 hrs.

Today the adventure takes to the main highlight at Everest base camp, from Lobuche starts early morning. A walk takes you to a wide valley and then climb up towards rocky moraine above Khumbu glacier. Then reach Gorakshep, a small settlement with few good lodges, from here walk towards Everest base camp. At the base camp enjoy the dramatic arctic-like landscapes Mt. Everest lies hidden by Lhotse and Nuptse peaks. After an exciting time head back to Gorakshep overnight, enjoying a great experience at the world’s highest peaks base camp.

Day 10: Hike to Kala Pathar 5,364 m and trek to Pheriche 4,288 m- 06 hrs.

Early morning before sunrise, climb up to Kalapathar hill there are two tops the closest one is at 5,545 m. The highest top is located further ups, after a few hours of strenuous climb enjoy the alluring panorama of towering giant peaks. Facing closest views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Mt. Pumori, and then return back to Gorakshep for breakfast. Then head down via Lobuche and Thugla to Pheriche for an overnight stop.

Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m / 11,280 feet -07 hrs.

A long day of pleasant walks downhill from Pheriche with short ups and descent to Pangboche and Tengboche, and then from Phungitenga ascend on the trail to NamcheBazaar for the overnight stop.

Day 12: Trek to Lukla 2,800 m -07 hrs.

The final day of the Everest Base Camp trekking adventure continues with a long descent to Dudh Koshi river and then exits Sagarmatha National Park. Stop at Phakding for lunch, followed by a couple of hours of an easy hike with the last climb to Lukla. Overnight in the comfort of a nice lodge at Lukla, celebrating the successful journey and bid farewell to porters.

Day 13: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel.

Have breakfast and head to Tenzing & Hillary Airport in Lukla, for boarding as per the scheduled flight. A panoramic short flight brings you to Kathmandu, after the conclusion of the adventurous Everest base camp trek. The rest of the afternoon is for leisure and individual activities.

Day 14: Final Departure to your respective countries.

A representative from Vertex Holiday will assist you to the Tribhuwan International airport per your scheduled return flight to your home country after a memorable adventure on Everest base camp trekking.
