Dantakali Temple

At just 9hrs drive from the capital city of Nepal (Kathmandu), Dantakali temple is situated in the middle of the beautiful hills of Dharan. This temple is dedicated to Sati Devi (Consort of Lord Shiva),  the goddess is worshipped for the marital felicity and longevity in Hindu religion. According to the legend, it is believed that, after the death of Goddess Sati, Lord Shiva carried her body aimlessly from place to place. After somedays, the body started to decay and parts of the body fell in different parts of the Earth. At that time the enamel of Sati Devi fell at the place where the Dantakali temple is located now. Hindu holy book, Swasthani Brata Katha named the temple as Dantakali which means one of the forms of Goddess Durga. The temple holds a very important role in the history of our Nepali culture and religion. Thousands of devotees visit this temple to worship Goddess Dantakali and take blessings from her, the temple is especially crowded during the festival of Dashain.
