People gathering at Krishna Mandir, Patan to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami

Krishna Janmashtami, a popular festival celebrated in Nepal during the birthday of Lord Krishna.  This famous festival of Hindus falls in the month of August. During this traditional festival, many devotees visit the Krishna temples near them. The most famous Krishna Temple in Nepal where most of the devotee’s visit is situated at Patan Durbar Square, Lalitpur. In Nepal, the temples are illuminated and decorated with flowers and light, devotes gather around the Krishna temple celebrates the festival with prayers,  and singing rituals songs dedicated to Lord Krishna. Those who cannot attend the temple, however, still celebrate with miniature Krishna idols or with the image of Krishna that are arranged inside beautifully decorated cradles.
