Sahid Diwas (Martyrs Day)

Martyrs’ Day or commonly known as ‘Sahid Diwash’ is celebrated on the 30th of January in memory of brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation during the Rana Regime in 1941. On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, the public holiday is given and Nepalese people primarily memorize the four martyrs named Dharmabhakta Mathema, Dasrath Chand, Shukra Raj Shastri, Gangalal Shrestha, and all the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the nation. Even a monument named ‘Sahid Gate’ is built in the memory of martyrs which is located in Sundhara inside Kathmandu Valley. Various programs such as price distribution, sports, and other cultural programs are held on this day all over the country.
